CGMMV

The Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus, often referred to as the cucumber mosaic virus: a highly contagious, very resilient plant virus for which there is no curative treatment.

The Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV), often simply called the cucumber mosaic virus in German, is a highly contagious plant virus belonging to the genus Tobamoviruses. It is very resilient and manifests itself in plants through mosaic patterns on the leaves and deformed shoot tips, as well as in the appearance and quality of the fruit—and ultimately in lower crop yields.

The virus spreads very easily via seeds, tools, hands, water, growing media, and pollinators when they visit flowers. It can lead to significant economic losses, particularly in the greenhouse cultivation of cucumbers.

There are no official chemical or curative pesticides. Control relies solely on strict hygiene measures, prevention, and the use of resistant varieties.
